Preschool activities about space are so much fun and include a lot of learning along with the play. More than that, the idea of space stimulates a lot of imaginative play in preschoolers, as well as children of all ages. My 71 year old father included!
My preschooler loves anything to do with space. She even wanted to be an astronaut when she grows up for awhile, until she learned about Christina Koch. She will be in space for almost a year! Roo said she would miss me too much if she was gone that long. No more astronaut talk. But that doesn’t keep her from loving activities about space.
I pulled out a large box leftover from Christmas today and encouraged Roo to create something. (We love cardboard crafts!) Crayons, Popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, and play dough were provided as tools to help turn this box into whatever she wanted. Of course it was a rocket spaceship to the moon!
I demonstrated how the playdough could be used to stick the popscicle sticks and pipecleaners to the box. We also found the corrugated cardboard on the sides were just the right size to stick the pipecleaners into!
